a transdisciplinary journal of postcolonial humanities

Encounters. These brief encounters are offered in praise to the creative word. They encapsulate portraits of people, swift interactions, simple daily actions and expressions that invite careful observation on apparently trivial moments of human life, which are, nonetheless, essential steps in paving the way for more welcoming and humane forms of storytelling. These compositions from the pen of a teenager, now a university student, call for a pause and for a receptive closer look. They offer a young woman’s positive vision to foreground the primacy of real people and to expand imaginatively the meaning and benefit of encounters.
